The Pollination Project ecoganic farm is nestled in a beautiful valley near Rio en Medio, located ten miles north of Santa Fe, NM. The project is the long time vision of Sol VanNostrand, to unify holistic agriculture and community health care. Sol's heritage is woven of a lineage of many generations of farmers and he has been practicing and learning about organic agriculture for twenty years. He was an active student and employee of the Center for Sustainable Living at Penn State University where he was first introduced to sustainability and taught the method of bio-intensive mini-farming established by John Jeavons and Alan Chadwick. Upon graduating, Sol spent seven months Wwoofing at Crystal Waters Permaculture Village outside of Maleny, Australia, and completed a permaculture design course. He completed an internship in organic farming at Spirit Gardens CSA in Southern Oregon where he returned as an employee for several years afterward. Over the past 20 years, Sol has participated in many organic farming projects, co-created the non-profit Within Earthly Bounds (which has expanded and now operates as Rogue Farm Corps), and studied in multiple programs of holistic health and healing. Currently, in addition to farming and teaching interns, Sol recently completed work as the Garden Coordinator at Acequia Madre Elementary School where he integrated gardening principles into STEM protocol, and also supported students to reconnect to their true heritage as children of the earth, sun, air, water and all life. He is passionate about cultivating ecological consciousness and literacy in the coming generations where love, reciprocity and knowledgeable care can replace widespread exploitation of the land, Nature and the world's peoples, helping to usher in a time of greater health for all. Along with educational work, Sol recently ran a Horticulture Therapy program for people recovering from addiction at the Santa Fe Recovery Center.
