Organic Food as Healthcare

 The biggest part of our work at The Pollination Project is incubating in its cocoon phase and we would love your help!  We are in the process of establishing an organizational structure to provide cutting edge agricultural education, tools and local organic heirloom seeds to impoverished rural communities in New Mexico as a local and statewide health care initiative.  We have a plan to  establish economically viable local organic food production and access to healthy food and nutrition education in  communities of need. 

According to a June 26, 2018 article in the Santa Fe New Mexican, titled Report: New Mexico ranks last in child well being, "For the first time in five years, New Mexico has fallen to last among states when it comes to the economic, educational and medical well-being of its children, according to a nonprofit that tracks the status of U.S. kids.
Perhaps most troubling in the 2018 Kids Count Data Book, set for public release Wednesday by the Baltimore-based Annie E. Casey Foundation, is New Mexico’s steep drop in ranking for health care measures — previously a bright spot for the state." 

We have all the information and experience necessary in these times to understand that the well-being of a community begins with clean and healthy soil, water, air and food.  Eating food grown organically in living soil can and does provide the best health care prevention and cure urgently needed in our communities.  The Pollination Project would like to help establish, along with the many others who are working toward this vision, the revival of organically and regeneratively grown heirloom corn, beans, and squash, along with the many other cultivars of incredible greens, roots, vegetables, fruits, nuts and berries that thrive in the various climates of New Mexico.  We would like to help empower communities to provide for their own health care needs through local access to a plethora fresh organic food and, ultimately, establish widespread community food and health sovereignty.     

We are currently looking at the best organizational models for this body of work and welcome informed ideas.
